François-Xavier Dauré, F.X. for short, is a 4th generation winemaker in the village of Espira de L’Agly in the Roussillon. His family was one of the few that kept their vineyards after the sweet wines produced in Rivesaltes fell out of fashion. In 2015 he began working full time with Tom Lubbe at Matassa, as well as farming his family's 16 hectares of vineyards and converting them all to organic. The long hours he worked, many of them before sunrise with a headlamp, gave him his nickname 'lampyre', which means 'firefly'. He later turned that into the name for his vineyard, where his main focus is on the blends, both in variety and vineyard, that really allow the terroir to shine through.

The Calentu is a fun, slightly funky, red full of sun ripened cherry and raspberry. A light bodied Grenache that does well with a chill.
