2015 Brandborg Gewurztraminer, Elkton Oregon
I mean its...Terry and Sue Branborg... And they make Gewurztraminer! What else more do I need to say?!
Both are self-taught in winemaking and grape growing and after 40 vintages remain committed to continued learning and growth.Their journey of discovery led them to Elkton, Oregon, in Oregon's Umpqua Valley. With passion and a steadfast belief in the quality of their chosen site, they planted the first 5 acres of pinot noir, only the beginning of an eventual 50 acres of vines.
This wine is a beautiful pale golden straw color. The fruit aromas begin with a candied tangerine note, followed by more interesting citrus and lemon rind contributing, with savory spices of cardamom and a touch of fennel. The acidity is crisp and pleasant, complimented by the touch of sweetness.
- Spicy Curry
- Gewurtztraminer is always great with dishes for the meals at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
A Little More...
Sourced from two sites within the Elkton Oregon AVA, both planted in 1983, Bradley Vineyard and Anindor Vineyard. The vineyards have similar soils born of alluvial Umpqua River deposits. Our growing season in Elkton is long and temperate with typically little rainfall between April and October. 2015 was the warmest year on record for Oregon for the third year in a row. The winter was unusually warm which led to an early bud break and spring growth.
